Popplet
Popplet provides students an interactive approach to create a bubble map to generate ideas for their writing topics. Students can use it on the web or download the app. Students start by double clicking on the board and a popplet (bubble) will appear. Then, they can type, upload an image, upload a video or draw. Students can print or save their map as a PDF, making it easy to share with the teacher or keep for the next day. Popplet is a mapping tool to support students in the prewriting stage.

PadletPadlet is a free online bulletin board to assist students in brainstorming before they write. Students simply click on the board and start typing their ideas. They can name the padlet by the date or a specific topic (such as emotions, hobbies, family). In addition, students can imbed pictures to create a visual board of their possible writing topics. Teachers can create a class padlet asking students to identify their writing topic. Then, students can view their peers topics which can help them generate an idea. Padlet supports collaboration as students can share their ideas with a peer writing about a similar topic. Students can print, email or save the padlet as a PDF file.

MindmeisterMindmeister is a mind mapping tool which can assist students in the brainstorming process. Students can easily create an account online or by downloading the app. To begin students are provided with one bubble, they can continue with their map by double clicking on the board. Each item can easily be rearranged to create an organized map of their ideas. The unique feature, "History View," allows users to go back through time and identify when they made specific changes to their map. This tool makes it easy to redo any action. In addition, teachers can use this feature to retrace students' thought process.
